METERS

MET-35B

We have decided to make the meter cases with room for batteries. This way one can take the unit in the field without having batteries hanging in one wire and the meter in another. Besides, the AA cells lasts longer than a small 9 V 'transistor' battery. With 6 V available it is optimal for the 5.5 V needed for absolute full scale readings, and even when the batteries are seriously dead, 1.2 V each, there is 4.8 V, enough for most work.

Individual meter movements for other purposes are available.

A battery test switch is of course included. Another switch applies a 50 W load for the LP-174 model. If this switch is left in the other position, readings are doubled, which may be useful.

The dial of the instrument is pictured above. Since the sensitivity of LogProbe diminishes with frequency, we decided to provide a dial that can be used for frequencies that extend outside the intended range of LogProbe. One never know what the customers will do.

The outermost red arc is for frequencies 0<f<100 MHz. There is then one for every 100 MHz inward. As you can see, there is a smooth decay until the frequency reaches 700 MHz. But even at 1 GHz there is a nice 60 dB range, although with a 'knick' at -5 dBm.
