Connectorized adapters.

BNC-50T

Adapter with a BNC-F connector and a 50 W internal termination.

Adapters with the most common connectors are available.

BNC, N, SMA and F (Cable TV) connectors are presently available, but others can of course be made. Even fiber optic connectors are on the program, but they are treated on their own page with the optical detector.

The connectorized adapters are normally delivered with a 50 W termination (75 W for the F-version) but other impedances can be had on special order.

The part number BNC-50T denotes a BNC connector with a 50 W internal termination. F-75T is then of course a F-connector with a 75 W termination.

One exception from the resistive terminations are the BNC-150 type numbers. This refers to a tuned circuit within the adapter, increasing the sensitivity at 150 MHz (in this example) and reducing it for out of band signals. This leads to a reasonable good match at the resonant frequency, but not at others. Since the signal reduction is especially strong above the fc with this kind of filter, it is particularly useful in bridge and distortion measurements since it suppresses already the 2fc by as much as 40 dB and higher harmonics by even more. It also lowers the noise, since the LogProbe is now no more a wide band device. The sensitivity is further increased by better impedance matching at the desired frequency, so the tangential sensitivity is improved by some 10 - 12 dB to about -85 dBm. To begin with these probes will be built to order, so your frequency may not in stock yet, but when the picture clears of what frequencies are most frequently ordered, we will stock them. No extra cost, but an extra week maybe.

An added 'A' designates probes with a built in pre-amplifier. Typical gain is 21 dB <100 MHz and still 18 dB at 1 GHz. The upper end of power may be more than the amplifier can deliver, so the dynamic range is slightly cut at the upper end. The tangential sensitivity is now as low as -105 dB for up to about 500 MHz, approaching the thermal noise. Input match to 50 W is excellent. The amplified adapters requires 10 ~ 15 V supply, nominally 13.6 V.

Two families of these amplified probes exist: The flat and the tuned, as described above.

For example: BNC-50TA and BNC-150A
